A Self Portrait

This was the first and only self portrait that I have ever produced, and I found it an entirely unique experience. I had very little faith in my abilities as a painter and struggled immensely at the beginning. It took me a long time to get started, but when I had finished I felt a great sense of achievement in the fact that I at least recognised myself in my own painting. As an outcome it is amongst those that I am proudest of, as it marked a definitive change in my confidence as an art student. I felt that the sense of power and control over my own image that I experienced was highly relevant and significant to the project I was undertaking at the time; The Representation of Women.
